The UAE’s Soft Power

The United Arab Emirates continues to reap the rewards of its comprehensive and forward-looking national vision, laid down by the Founding Fathers and firmly consolidated by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The results of the Global Soft Power Index 2026, which place the UAE among the world’s top ten most influential nations, stand as a qualitative milestone reflecting the country’s advanced standing and its growing regional and international influence.

In its modern understanding, soft power is no longer a political luxury or a secondary complement to hard power. It has become a fundamental pillar of international influence, shaping national reputation and enhancing a country’s ability to project positive impact on the global stage. The UAE recognised this transformation early on and moved decisively to build an integrated soft power model grounded in tolerance and coexistence, economic achievement, developmental leadership, active diplomacy, and cross-border humanitarian action.

This advanced global ranking is the direct outcome of balanced national policies that have positioned the UAE as a global hub for the economy, trade, investment, and innovation, as well as a platform for intercultural dialogue and a trusted destination for international partnerships. At the same time, the country’s extensive humanitarian and relief initiatives across the world have played a central role in consolidating its image as a nation of peace and generosity—one that makes no distinction based on religion, ethnicity, or geography.

Any discussion of Emirati soft power would be incomplete without highlighting the role of national institutions, foremost among them the UAE Armed Forces. Beyond their high level of defence readiness, the Armed Forces represent an advanced model built on professionalism, discipline, and a firm commitment to humanitarian values. Through participation in peacekeeping missions, support for regional stability, and humanitarian operations, they embody a distinguished image of the Emirati soldier—one who balances strength with responsibility, decisiveness with compassion.

At Al Jundi Journal, as we take pride in this national achievement, we reaffirm that the UAE’s soft power will remain fully integrated with its hard power within a balanced equation that safeguards national security and stability, enhances the country’s international presence, and reinforces its standing as an influential and proactive state. In a world in search of successful and inspiring models, the UAE continues to stand at the forefront—as a maker of hope and a source of positive global impact.
