Swedish Innovation Targets the Skies: A New Weapon Against Drone Swarms

Sweden’s Nordic Air Defence has unveiled a new anti-drone system called the Kreuger 100, designed to counter swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles using kinetic impact rather than explosives — making it safe for deployment in civilian environments such as airports and power stations.

The electrically powered missile employs infrared guidance to track its target and can be launched from rifles, containers or vehicles. With an estimated cost of just USD 5,000 per unit, the Kreuger 100 offers a low-cost yet effective solution to the growing threat posed by cheap, mass-produced drones increasingly used in Russian attacks across Europe.

Defence analysts suggest that the system could significantly shift the cost dynamics of European air defence by providing an affordable, scalable countermeasure to small aerial threats.
