The Board of Directors of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) concluded its meetings in Abu Dhabi on 19 October 2025, with the participation of board members and representatives from member states worldwide. The sessions focused on strengthening cooperation in military sports and advancing the council’s future programmes.
During the closing ceremony, the United Arab Emirates officially handed over the CISM flag to the Kingdom of Spain. Staff Brigadier General Ayoob Buti Al Falasi, Chief of the United Arab Emirates Delegation to CISM, presented the flag to the President of the International Military Sports Council, who in turn handed it to the Head of the Spanish Delegation—marking Spain’s hosting of the next Board meeting, scheduled to take place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The ceremony also featured the awarding of the CISM Medal of Merit (Knight Class) to several officers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the success of the event and their active role in supporting the council’s mission and elevating the status of military sports globally.
At the conclusion of the event, the CISM President expressed his profound gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its warm hospitality and exemplary organisation. He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Defence, the national organising team, and strategic partners whose work ensured the success of the meetings. He emphasised that Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the event embodied the spirit of cooperation and commitment that characterises the UAE’s support for CISM’s core values—“Friendship Through Sport.”
The meetings concluded with a renewed commitment by member states to continue working together to strengthen the council’s founding principles of friendship, cooperation, and peace among armed forces through sport.
