Russia Unveils Advanced ‘Kalinka’ Electronic Warfare System

Russia has introduced a new advanced electronic warfare system, named Kalinka, designed to intercept signals exchanged with Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite network.

The Kalinka system offers enhanced detection capabilities against maritime drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including the Baba Yaga drones, which rely on Starlink terminals to operate in contested environments. By targeting these communication links, Kalinka aims to counter adversary platforms that bypass traditional electronic warfare defences.

Equipped with a sophisticated radar, the system can detect unmanned surface vessels at distances of up to 15 kilometres. Once identified, these threats can be neutralised using conventional machine gun systems.

Initial production of Kalinka has begun on a limited scale, with plans to expand to full industrial manufacturing following successful field testing in Russia’s special military operations zone.
