South Korean defence manufacturer Dasan has introduced the XR-17, a 5.56×45mm light machine gun designed to meet the growing demands of modern military operations. The weapon combines advanced features such as a gas-piston operating system, an ambidextrous charging handle, and customisable options to enhance battlefield performance.
The XR-17 utilises a gas-piston system, offering superior reliability and reduced heat buildup compared to traditional direct impingement systems. This design ensures smoother cycling of rounds while minimising fouling, making the weapon more adaptable to extreme conditions, including high temperatures and sustained use.
With its robust construction and enhanced operational flexibility, the XR-17 aims to provide soldiers with a highly dependable and efficient solution for prolonged engagements.
