May 6th is one of the eternal days of the homeland. On this day in 1976, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, and his brothers, Their Highnesses, rulers of the Emirates made their historic decision to unify the armed forces under One central leadership, one slogan and one flag, forming one of the most important pillars of the Union State, and its impenetrable fortress.
Today, as we celebrate the forty-sixth anniversary of the unification of the armed forces, we feel proud of their progress in keeping up with the latest advanced global military institutions, after making great strides in development and modernization, as well as making a qualitative leap in all areas of their work in armament, training, organization and good management.
None of which would have been achieved without the generous care and unlimited support of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, “God bless him”, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
On this glorious anniversary, we assure our wise leadership that we will always abide by our pledge, as an embodiment of the union and a symbol of national cohesion.
Belonging to the armed forces will always remain an honor, a duty, and a right for all male and female citizens.
We renew the pledge of walking the path and preserving the trust, asking God Almighty to make this occasion always full of goodness and blessings, perpetuating our people’s pride, security, and stability.
We also renew our pledge and loyalty to our wise leadership to lay down that which is dearest to us and sacrifice our lives to defend the soil of our dear homeland.
Members of the armed forces will remain loyal to our homeland and wise leadership, continuing to assume responsibility and perform duty with dignity, bravery, and selflessness, bearing in mind that it is our sacred duty to preserve the security and stability of our homeland.
