The US Army gets new Navy destroyer

The US Army Navy recently received a new military destroyer, the 71st Arleigh Burke destroyer being built for the US Army.

The ship is one of 9 Flight IIA class ships (modified Arleigh Burke ships), with a length of 155.2 m and a width of 20 m.

It differs from conventional Arleigh Burke vessels in that many of its components are made of composite materials to reduce its radar signature.

This ship is armed with winged Tomahawk missiles, RUM-139 VL-ASROC anti-ship missiles, SM-2 anti-air missiles, 127 mm cannons, 20 and 13.7 mm machine guns, and 324 mm torpedoes as well as SH-60 military helicopter pads.
