The Russian Defense Ministry said that in 2022 its navy will receive the modern icebreaker “Yevpaty Kolovrat”.

The ministry indicated that the icebreaker of Project (21180M) is being built at the Almaz Shipbuilding Company in Saint Petersburg.

“The most important part of the military shipbuilding program, which includes supplying the Russian Navy with icebreaker ships and icebreaker-class support vessels, will be among the priority developments in 2022 and in the near term,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

It is known that the construction of icebreakers in Russia was given priority due to the active development of the Arctic region.
