South Korea tests high-powered radars for warships

Developers at the South Korean company “Hanwha Systems” have begun testing a new generation of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars, developed to work with the latest ships in the country’s Navy.

These radars should significantly improve the capabilities of military forces to detect enemy naval and air targets.

South Korea plans to equip the new radars to the FFX-III warships, which will go into service in 2024, and will use them with future KDDX-type naval destroyers.

These radars will be able to detect about 4,000 targets simultaneously.

The new South Korean radars’ integration into the mast complex of warships, will provide great protection to the radars, they are also designed to be easy to maintain and modernize.”
