South Korea has launched an advanced KSS-III submarine designed for its navy.

Work on the construction of this submarine began in 2017. It will undergo a series of tests, to be delivered to the South Korean Navy in 2024, as Korea plans to obtain 9 new KSS-III class submarines.

The length of each KSS-III submarine is about 83.5 m, its width is 9.6 m, and its displacement of water is 3,700 tons. It can move at a speed of 20 knots underwater, and travel distances of up to 10,000 miles on each mission, and work for 50 days without the need for refueling and supplies. These submarines are also equipped with platforms to launch winged missiles, and other platforms to launch 533 mm torpedoes.
