Philippines to acquire India’s BrahMos coastal defense missile

Philippine Defense Secretary Delphine Lorenzana said that his country has completed a deal to purchase three Brahmos missile systems from India for approximately $375 million, to strengthen its navy.

“I recently signed a notice of approval of the terms of a contract for the purchase of coastal anti-ship missiles, to supply the Philippine Navy.

The deal includes the delivery of three systems, the training of technical personnel that will supervise their use, in addition to the necessary package of integrated logistical support,” the minister added.

BrahMos Aerospace, an Indo-Russian joint venture, manufactures supersonic winged missiles that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land platforms.
