India’s DRDO tests the ATAGS system

The ATAGS is a fully India-made cannon developed by DRDO as part of the Indian Army’s Artillery Modernization Programme that underwent successful trials.

Initiated by DRDO in 2013, The Advanced Artillery System (ATAGS) project aimed to replace outdated rifles in service in the Indian Army, with a modern 155mm artillery gun.

The gun consists of a barrel, a thrusting mechanism, a muzzle brake, and a recoil mechanism for firing 155 mm ammunition with a firing range of 48 km. It features an all-electric motor for reliability and minimal maintenance over an extended period of time.
