India produces a fourth-generation fighter

 India has recently succeeded in producing a tailless fighter aircraft it called “Tejas”, which is similar to the French fighter Mirage 2000. It should be noted that the first work on the development of this aircraft began in 1983.

It took 18 years for designers to work on the Tejas fighter before the prototype made its first test flight. However, it took another decade to get rid of all the defects and start mass production, according to Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper.

This fighter belongs to the light class with a maximum takeoff weight of 15,500 kg.

The speed of the aircraft can reach 1920 km / h. The flight range is 2000 km. Crew – 1 person.

Its armament includes a 23 mm twin-barrel Guy Shi-23 cannon, as well as Russian R-73 and R-77 missiles. The total payload mass can reach 4000 KG.

Currently, a version of this aircraft is being tested for aircraft carrier.
