First Greek F-16 fighter to be upgraded

Greece announced that the first of 84 Greek F-16 fighters, promoted to the F-16V Viper, flew into the sky for the first time on January 17, 2021.

The F-16V was upgraded at Hellenic Aerospace Industry’s Tanagra facility, which is due to implement modifications to the fleet in a program approved by the United States government.

According to reports, Greece has acquired a total of 90 Block 52/52 + aircraft and 84 of them are undergoing upgrading. The Hellenic Air Force (HAF) has also received 80 Block 30/50 jets powered by a General Electric F110 engine, but they are not part of the F-16V program.
