Britain is currently working on upgrading its naval ships to be able to launch Aster-30 anti-air missiles of the Block 1 version manufactured by the European company MBDA, which can deal with various flying targets, including anti-ship ballistic missiles.

The British Ministry of Defense had concluded contracts worth more than 300 million pounds with MBDA to retrofit some of its ships and arm them with the Aster-30 anti-air missiles.

The retrofit of the Type-45 destroyers also provides upgrades for the SAMPSON radars and SAMPSON missile control systems, making the missile launchers on those ships capable of launching 72 anti-aircraft missiles.
