Britain develops new destroyers for its navy

Britain is developing a new generation of missile destroyers (Type-83) for its navy, to replace the destroyers (Type-45) currently used in the army.

Although no details are available about the technical specifications of the new ships, the documents published by the British House of Commons Defense Committee indicated that they will receive advanced radars, sonars and sensors, and will be equipped with small drones capable of detecting enemy ships and submarines.

The British Ministry of Defense had indicated in July 2021 that it was working on a plan to develop and modernize the Type-45 destroyers in the country’s navy, and to equip each of these ships with 24 anti-aircraft missile launchers.

Britain is also currently working on developing 8 new Type-26 frigates and 5 Type-31 frigates for its army.
