As Sheikh Mohamed emphasised, “Building capabilities in artificial intelligence embodies the pioneering spirit of the UAE,” reflecting the nation’s commitment to harnessing cutting-edge technologies for future advancement. This vision has driven the UAE to mobilise all resources necessary to develop innovative AI solutions, launching initiatives and projects that enable the UAE to lead in advanced sciences.
Recently, the General Directorate of Dubai Civil Defence was honoured by the British government at Larkhill Camp in the United Kingdom. This recognition serves as a testament to the UAE’s global influence in AI, particularly in firefighting and environmental safety. Dubai Civil Defence has effectively integrated locally developed AI programs to minimise fire incidents worldwide and reduce the carbon emissions associated with fires.
As part of this recognition, Major Essa Ahmed Al Mutawa, Chief Executive Officer for AI at Dubai Civil Defence, was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) in the UK, making him the first international member to join this distinguished body.
This honour marks yet another milestone in Dubai Civil Defence’s journey toward global excellence in firefighting.
Moreover, the organisation was recently celebrated by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the world’s largest firefighting association based in the United States, for its Environmental Preparedness Program.
The program was awarded as the world’s best initiative for reducing fire incidents through an AI-driven system designed to safeguard lives and property.
