US develops new unmanned submarines

The United States is developing a new generation of unmanned submarines.

The Orca-class submarine can be remotely controlled and is capable of deploying naval mines, and will be equipped with gear that enables it to transport approximately 8 tons of payload.

The diesel-electric powered submarine will weigh up to 50 tons and have a range of up to 6,500 nautical miles.

The submarine’s basic equipment is designed in a special modular way that enables its upgrade and constant modernization without complications.

The United States is supposed to start testing the new submarine this summer, and it will be equipped with special equipment for electronic warfare, in addition to being able to detect submarines and transmit data related to them to aircraft and warships, it will also be armed with Mk46 and Mk48 torpedoes.
