India developing a new generation of homemade air defence missiles

India has successfully developed a new generation of indigenously manufactured Akash air defence missiles, and has successfully tested a medium-range surface-to-air missile to intercept air targets designed to evade radars.

The missile that was tested represents the new generation, known as “Akash NG”, and it achieved success in all tests.

The missile can shoot down enemy warplanes at a range of 50 to 60 km, and it can reach altitudes of up to 18 thousand meters.

The Indian surface-to-air missile can counter many air targets such as fighters, winged missiles, and air-to-ground missiles launched from aircraft against ground targets, in addition to the possibility of using it to counter ballistic missiles.
