China has unveiled the Cai Hong-9 (CH-9) drone, a long-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. The new addition to China’s drone arsenal is designed for extended endurance missions and is capable of flying more than 10,000 kilometres in a single deployment.
In a recent demonstration, the CH-9 successfully completed a continuous flight lasting over 20 hours. The drone is engineered to remain airborne for up to 40 hours and can cruise at speeds ranging between 0.5 and 0.75 Mach (approximately 800 kilometres per hour), significantly expanding its operational range.
What sets the CH-9 apart is its integration of AI systems that enhance its combat effectiveness. The drone can coordinate with and direct multiple other UAVs simultaneously, acting as a command hub during missions. It is also capable of operating alongside manned fighter jets, allowing for joint operations and seamless battlefield coordination.
