Minister of State for Defence Affairs receives Chief of Staff of French Army

Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, today received General Thierry Borcard, Chief of Staff of the French Army, and his delegation.

The meeting was attended by Mattar Salem Al Dhaheri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and a number of senior officials and officials from the ministry.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the strategic cooperation between the UAE and France and strengthening them in all areas, most notably in military and defence. They also discussed several regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Al Bowardi stressed the UAE and France have distinguished bilateral ties and share similar stances on several important issues. He lauded the cooperation between the two friendly countries in promoting peace and stability in the region and in maintaining international peace and security.

Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces also received General Borcard and his delegation in his office.

During the meeting, the two sides highlighted their mutual keenness to reinforce the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries. They highlighted their joint vision of the importance of supporting solutions and initiatives aimed at achieving peace and security in the region.

In both meetings, General Borcard condemned the attacks of the Houthis on civilian facilities in the UAE and expressed his solidarity and support for the country’s right to take necessary actions to protect the safety and security of its citizens and territories.

He also extended his condolences to the families of victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
